Computer Labs Managed by Academic Computing & Networking

Academic Computing & Networking manages open computer labs and computer teaching labs in several locations on campus. Open computer labs cannot be reserved for teaching classes - they are available to students for general use during all open hours. Some computer teaching labs managed by Academic Computing & Networking are designated for primary use by certain programs such as EPICS and the LAIS Writing Program. General computer teaching labs in the CTLM are open for general use when they are not reserved for class. A standard operating system configuration and suite of software is installed on all computers in AC&N labs. Some labs or systems have additional applications installed as noted. Additional software will typically not be installed during the academic year. See the PC Labs Software Installation policy for information.

AC&N Q&A

Are all labs open the same hours?
No. Generally the labs located in the CTLM-II have the most open hours, followed by the Library, and the CTLM. Check the web or the local site for details.

Can I install software I need to use for class or personal use?
Generally no. Adding software to systems can create security risks and cause unintended consequences for other applications so "builds" have to be constructed and tested carefully. AC&N must also verify and comply with all software licensing requirements so will not permit customers to install software applications on systems we manage.
