Scope of License:

Campus-wide internal non-commercial use limited site license.

Details of License:

The product is available for installation on campus-owned machines and for use by faculty/staff/students for instructional, research, administrative and management of plant facilities purposes, but not for commercial use. • Optionally, ESRI Data & Maps - 2 DVDs or 2 CDs

Licensing to use this product expires each year in the summer, and new keys are obtained.

Licensing Mechanisms:

  • Central license server -- this is the usual method.

  • Certain products use a special password (ArcView 3.3, ArcView/ArcEditor single user, ArcPad) -- if these products suffice, this is the usual method for laptops/PDAs taken off the campus network

  • Keyed to specific machine, with Dongle

Method for Obtaining:

If you need ESRI products installed on a CSM-owned machine, AC&N will want you to begin by submitting a request to the Mines Help Center.  Minimally we will need to know your name, your advisor or equivalent if you are a student, your phone extension, the machine's operating system, location and owner, and the general use to which the software will be put.  Please do not submit requests to install the software on a single or limited-number of lab machines; the software "build" on lab machines is frozen in support of the CSM academic mission and AC&N can not accommodate "on-the-fly" lab installations.

Cost to Qualified CSM End-Users:

Computing and Networking charges back $10 per seat per year ($1000/year maximum per department) for the use of this license on CSM-owned machines.

Licensing:

Licensing for this product expires every summer; new keys are renewed/obtained annually.

Frequency of Updates:

An update, such as from 9.0 to 9.1, occurs about once a year

Documentation:

In Case of Difficulties Installing or Running the Software:

Contact us via the Mines Help Center!  We want to get you to where the program is properly installed and functional.  We can answer some questions about the use of the program, but we expect you to do the bulk of the work in that area.

Miscellaneous Notes:

ArcView 3.3 is a continuation of the style of program ESRI produced before they switched to the ArcGIS Desktop/ArcMap programs they currently feature. Some third-party extensions have not been updated yet, and so we maintain availability of this older style of product.
